I walk Market Street almost on a daily basis. I also take public transportation, i.e. BART & Muni regularly as well. What you see on the video has been the condition since after the COVID pandemic. And i'm glad that people have been coming back despite negative press about San Francisco! Is it dirty? Filthy? Unsafe with unhoused people & drug pushers & addicts? I'll leave the answer to you. I'd want to say though that I'm a well-travelled person. I especially love clean, safe and organized cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Makati City & BGC in the Philippines, etc. What do they do to keep these cities safe and clean? On the other hand, romanticized cities like Paris, London, New York, Toronto, etc. are equally, if not more problematic than San Francisco. But then again, it's easier to make fun at San Francisco, just because. I don't want to think that most of these negative things thrown at San Francisco are comng from a place of jealousy. But I think it is because San Francisco is fre🤍kin' awesome! There's so much to not like about this city but there's much, much more to love about her. For now I'm staying and not going anywhere. Do not believe the news that San Francisco is in a doom loop. San Francisco is thriving! This is a welcoming and compassionate place where everybody is welcome. Health officials in San Francisco say the number of overdoses is trending in the wrong direction with 84 deaths in the month of August. That number ties as the single deadliest month for overdoses since the city started tracking this data in 2020. The other month with 84 deaths was January of this year. Living in The Tenderloin, one of San Francisco's worst neighborhoods, was an eye opening experience. I'll never forget stepping over needles, syringes, excrement and all kinds of drug paraphernalia. It is a lost neighborhood with almost no hope of recovery. A safe haven for those looking to do their drugs out in the open every single day for the rest of their lives. The Tenderloin District is a high crime neighborhood with aggravated assault and robbery taking place nearly every day. Among the most common crime is vehicle theft. If you simply walk down the street in the Tenderloin you will eventually bump into a car with its windows broken. Public defecation is also not uncommon and can happen anywhere in the Tenderloin or San Francisco for that matter. Nowadays, the homeless are sheltered in tents provided by the city or they are housed in hotels but many still refuse help. All this is not to say there are great people and families that live in the Tenderloin; however, it is very unfortunate that they have to be surrounded by such unfortunate circumstances. If you’re ever in San Francisco I would skip a visit to the Tenderloin.
