When I was a kid, I would come every now and then to visit relatives in Hawaii and feast upon local Hawaii, Hawaiian food, and a variety of Asian food as well. In this video, we’re going on an ultimate single day local Hawaii food tour. Joe’s Grill Express - Located not to far from the Honolulu airport, Joe’s Grill Express is an awesome local spot for Hawaii style breakfast. I went with the special loco moco, including hamburger patty, spam, and eggs, all over rice, with mac salad. Total price - $7.08 Alicia’s Market - One of my all time favorite places to eat in Honolulu is Alicia’s Market. They serve a combination of Hawaiian food and local eats, and plenty of different types of poke. I had some roasted meat and the Hawaiian food plate. Price - $11.47 (But the owner gave me a bunch of free meat, thank you Chris) Tamashiro Market - Another long standing icon when it comes to Honolulu food is Tamashiro market, a small seafood market. They have all sorts of fresh seafood you can buy, and they also have a good variety of different poke and prepared seafood. Total price - $29.59 Waiola Shave Ice - I’ve been going to Waiola shave ice since I was a kid and I still think it’s the best in Hawaii because of its incredible fine soft ice. Price - $3.75 Itchy Butt - Finally to finish off this Hawaii food tour of Honolulu, we went to a relatively new place, my first time. Some relatives of mine had told me about it, and also every time I drove past, I would see a hungry crowd standing outside at all times. Plus I couldn't wait to try it due to its name. It was pretty good, although Korean fried chicken tends to be a little sweet for me. Professional eater Randy Santel again versus Noods Ramen Bar's Big Japanese Ramen Noodle Bowl Challenge DOUBLED, hosted by the Noods Ramen Bar location in the Kaimuki neighborhood of Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii!! Back in late January and early February of this year (2023), 🤍KatinaEatsKilos and I spent time attempting tasty man vs food eating challenges around the island of Oahu, Hawaii. For my fourth restaurant challenge event, we headed to Noods Ramen Bar in the Kaimuki neighborhood of Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, and I dominated Noods' Big Ramen Noodle Bowl Challenge in 10:22 which had a 20 minute time limit. Katina and I were supposed to leave for Sydney, New South Wales, Australia the next day, but I didn't get to go because I had troubles getting a visa issued before the scheduled flight left. Later that evening, taking advantage of the opportunity, I went back to Noods Ramen Bar and attempted to double their food challenge and become the first person to ever eat TWO giant 5lb Japanese ramen bowls consecutively back-to-back. For the first bowl, I ordered their Pork Tonkotsu Ramen Noodle Bowl. For the second bowl, I ordered one of their options that supposedly had a lighter ramen broth. Each bowl was equivalent to 4 normal sized #ramen bowls, weighing about 5lbs with everything included. Doubling the ramen challenge brought the weight up to around 10lbs/4.54kg. I attempted the first bowl and had 20 minutes to finish that, trying to beat my previous best from the night before, which was 10:22. After finishing that, I restarted my timer and gave myself 20 new minutes to finish the 2nd bowl and beat the challenge a second time. I was trying to win both of my $45 Japanese ramen bowls free and another spot on Noods' Wall of Fame. I was not trying or wanting to win a 2nd sweet t-shirt since I had already won one the night before. BIG thanks to everyone with Noods Ramen Bar for the wonderful food, drinks, and hospitality!! This was filmed many months before COVID-19. Hidden away in the back of Chinatown’s Kekaulike market you will find the freshest and tastiest poke spot in Honolulu, Hawaii. Brothers Junichiro and Ryojiro Tsuchiya took what they learned in Japan as fishmongers and opened up a poké stall, aptly named Maguro Brothers. They visit the local fish market every morning to pick out the best fresh fish, used to serve up super fresh sashimi, grilled fish, and ahi poke over rice. Finally, we made the drive out to Waipahu (about 30 mins or so from Honolulu), ordered some food, and ate it on the beach. Tanioka’s Seafood and Catering - Waipahu, Hawaii - It’s a local Hawaii food spot, known for their takeaway bentos and lunchboxes, poke, and musubi. They also have a full cabinet of different deep fried things - like fish patties, tempura, and mochiko chicken. When you walk in, you immediately stand in line and pass through the line ordering whatever you see that looks good. One thing you can be certain of is that all their fish is extremely fresh. I was very excited, but it’s one of those places that you order a bunch of food, but you always feel like you missed ordering something important. Here’s most of what I ordered: Spam musubi / deluxe spam musubi Fish patties Futomaki Poke bowl with fried belly Spicy ahi bento Poi mochi Total price - $67.90 It’s not cheap at all, but it’s typical Hawaii prices. After getting the bags of food, I wanted to go eat somewhere along the beach. Since I don’t typically get out to the West Coast of Oahu very often, we decided to drive out to Kahe Point. The views were spectacular and we walked around for a little while, but there wasn’t a good grassy area to sit, so we continued on to Ko Olina. Ko Olina is a resort and golf course area, which amazing calm lagoons and grassy areas, perfect to dig into a Hawaii beach feast from Tanioka’s! It sounded like exactly the type of place I need to go. So one day we drove down for lunch. Immediately I loved the atmosphere of the market. They have a short but everything you need menu, and most dishes are on the Japanese food side - with donburi bowls, and they also have some Hawaiian style poke. But as I found out, even their poke is more Japanese style, and amazing. Chu-toro donburi with uni - First dish I tried was the chu-toro donburi with uni. Chu-toro is the medium fatty tuna with sea urchin on the side. It was as fresh as possible, and absolutely delicious.
