On a winter afternoon, a walk on the Copacabana boardwalk at sunset, a beautiful orange sky, a lot of people walking, enjoying a leisurely afternoon, exercising in the most famous neighborhood in Brazil, Copacabana. This was a relatively hot day for the time of year, it is winter in Rio de Janeiro and with a blue sky the sun gained some strength to warm up the cariocas who wasted no time and went to the beach. I'm back to Rio de Janeiro after a 15 day trip to São Paulo and this is the first video recorded after the trip. According to Riotur, the Tourism Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro, there are 63 hotels and 10 hostels in Copacabana. Copacabana beach is located at the Atlantic shore and it stretches from Posto Dois to Posto Seis.There are historic forts at both ends of Copacabana beach; Fort Copacabana which was built in 1914, is at the south end by Posto Seis and Fort Duque de Caxias was built in 1779 and is located at the north end.

🇧🇷 🤍rio4fun 🏨 YOO2 RIO DE JANEIRO BY INTERCITY: 🤍 With another day in Brazil coming to a close, I decided to head out to explore the street food scene in Rio de Janeiro after dark! Join me as I try some incredible Brazilian street food in Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! 🇧🇷 RIO4FOOD: 🤍 🇧🇷 RAFA: 🤍 My night began at the rooftop cabanas of my hotel, the Yoo2 Rio de Janeiro by Intercity, one of the top hotels in Rio! My friends Guilherme and Rafa from Rio4Fun and Rio4Food and I decided to head out on an impromptu street food adventure! We called an Uber and rode to the Copacabana Beach area. Our Uber driver didn’t like my soccer jersey! The area is open 24 hours and it’s very lively. The neighborhood never sleeps! Our first street food was sambiquira (a chicken butt kebab) sold by a fun and friendly vendor. He also sold delicious-smelling sausage and garlic bread, which he grilled. The chicken butt had cassava flour on top. I added some chili sauce on top, which was fire. I loved the crumbly outside. It reminded me of a chicken thigh. It contained some small bones but was really tender and tasty. The kebabs cost us less than $1.50 each! Next, we a vendor selling pasta with rice, beans, sausage, bacon, cucumbers, cassava flour, onions, kale, and lettuce, so we bought some as well! The pasta, flour, and beans were all fused together and so delicious! It was a nice mix of textures and was so fresh! Then, I tried the grilled garlic bread, which was crispy on the outside and creamy inside! It contained mayo and garlic! After an hour, we drove to the next spot. Our Uber driver had recently lost 22 kilos, so him driving us to more street food wasn’t helping his weight loss! At the next spot, I had some traditional Salinas cachaça with a roast beef sandwich with cheese and pineapple! It contained a mountain of smoky roast beef and a real tropical flair. I added some mole picante to add some spice. The sweet and salty mixture was the best! Next was more cachaça and then some beef kidneys! They also have beef brains. The kidneys with butter and cilantro were super exotic, earthy, and gamy. They’re chewy but full of amazing flavor. It was the most exotic dish I’d had in Brazil! Adding the mole picante to the kidneys was unreal! Then, we headed next door back to Galeto Sat’s, where we went earlier in the day. They offer over 300 different cachaças as well as beef, chicken, sausage, and bread. Their Bem me Que cachaça was sweet, and then we got some chicken hearts with garlic sauce on top. The sauce was oily but wasn’t too garlicky. We added some cassava flour on top. They were really unique and delicious. Like most of the foods I’d tried in Brazil, it was a nice twist on a dish I love! Where have you been? New Year's Eve in Copacabana is the biggest New Year's Eve party in Brazil and in the world, which takes place from December 31st to January 1st at Copacabana beach, located in Rio de Janeiro. The party has a fireworks display lasting about 17 minutes, shows by various artists, currently attracting around two million people. The word réveillon originates from the French verb réveiller which has the meaning to wake up, thus réveillon is the awakening of the new year. History Who started spending New Year's Eve on Copacabana beach were Candomblé practitioners in the 70s. The party had smaller proportions, and everyone wore white to greet Iemanjá with offerings taken to the sea before midnight. The use of white clothes and the delivery of flowers to the sea was incorporated into the New Year's tradition and is repeated not only in Rio de Janeiro, but in all parts of Brazil. According to Candomblé, the color white is used to represent the mourning for death that allows rebirth and continuation of life. 1980s Who started with the tradition of fireworks was Mario from the old By Marius steakhouse, in 1978, bringing together merchants from Leme to raise funds and carry out fireworks. In the 1980s, the former Meridien hotel (corner Princesa Isabel.) started its traditional fireworks cascade that ended the fireworks. The 39-story building received a cascade of fireworks that came out of its top and went down through the floors of the skyscraper. Thus, other hotels also started to finance the fireworks party, attracting tourists and residents. With the growth of the party, the city of Rio de Janeiro had to worry about the safety of the Copacabana New Year's Eve attendees. After a serious accident in the sand, the fires were transferred to rafts in the middle of the sea. And avoiding riots after the pyrotechnics show, in 1993 the city scheduled shows on the beach so that people didn't all leave at the same time. Jorge Ben and Tim Maia introduced themselves and managed to lighten the flow. Based on this highly successful experience of concerts at the turnaround, the city hall registered the event as official, taking several attractions every year to the stages of Copacabana. Numbers From the beginning of the millennium, the traditional fireworks display started to be carried out on rafts far from the beach to avoid accidents. Altogether 24 tons of fireworks on 11 rafts make the fireworks show that lasts 16 minutes. To organize the 2,330 fireworks, 90 days of preparation and a team of 1,500 people are needed. Tourists leave around 650 million dollars in the city every year during the period, currently there are three stages with various attractions throughout the night. About 500 chemical toilets are placed and 360 tons of garbage are collected at the end of the party.
