Twitter: 🤍 Github: 🤍 In this video I want to tell you about the incredibly useful piece of software called ADB (Android Debug Bridge) that essentially lets your android device and your computer communicate to one another and I want to show you a bunch of different ways that you can use it in order to fully control your Android device without needing to physically touch or interact with it! Instead you can use the computer that your device is connected to, to do a HUGE range of different things. Some of the awesome things that you can do with ADB (that I showcase in this video) are; transferring files between your computer and device, accessing your app's data saving location, sending user input like taps and text input so you can automate user interaction without touching the phone and taking screenshots and screen recordings. I also want to show the Android developers out there some brilliant commands that will be insanely useful to them and enhance their app development process. Once you learn about these commands your android app creation process will never be the same. These are things like telling you what packages are installed on the device, understanding your app's task with information about the view hierarchy and activity & fragment stack and even creating automated taps, swipes and button presses, so that you never need to pick up your phone and waste precious seconds logging in to your app again, just let adb do it for you! There are so many other useful adb commands that I wasn't able to include in this video, otherwise it would gone on for HOURS, but there are plenty of links and amazing cheat-sheets below (in the links section) for you to enjoy and find even more commands that will help you take control of your device... From your computer... You can find a list of the commands that I was able to cover in this video in the timestamps section (below in description), along with of course, the timestamp in the video of when I explain and demonstrate that particular command... It is a client-server program that includes three components: A client, which runs on your development machine. You can invoke a client from a shell by issuing an adb command. Other Android tools such as the ADT plugin and DDMS also create adb clients.A server, which runs as a background process on your development machine. The server manages communication between the client and the adb daemon running on an emulator or device.A daemon, which runs as a background process on each emulator or device instance. When you start an adb client, the client first checks whether there is an adb server process already running. If there isn't, it starts the server process. When the server starts, it binds to local TCP port 5037 and listens for commands sent from adb clients—all adb clients use port 5037 to communicate with the adb server. Enabling adb Debugging In order to use adb with a device connected over USB, you must enable USB debugging in the device system settings, under Developer options. On Android 4.2 and higher, the Developer options screen is hidden by default. To make it visible, go to Settings About phone and tap Build number seven times. Return to the previous screen to find Developer options at the bottom. On some devices, the Developer options screen may be located or named differently. Note: When you connect a device running Android 4.2.2 or higher to your computer, the system shows a dialog asking whether to accept an RSA key that allows debugging through this computer. This security mechanism protects user devices because it ensures that USB debugging and other adb commands cannot be executed unless you're able to unlock the device and acknowledge the dialog. This requires that you have adb version 1.0.31 (available with SDK Platform-tools r16.0.1 and higher) in order to debug on a device running Android 4.2.2 or higher. For more information about connecting to a device over USB, read Using Hardware Devices. Syntax You can issue adb commands from a command line on your development machine or from a script. The usage is: If there's only one emulator running or only one device connected, the adb command is sent to that device by default. If multiple emulators are running andor multiple devices are attached, you need to use the -d, -e, or -s option to specify the target device to which the command should be directed. How to Reinstall Android Apps You Disabled with ADB Commands

This video shows you how to install the Android apps & services you previously uninstalled with ADB. ~~~~~ Hi! Don't forget to hit the "Thanks" button on this video, if you can, and join our channel community here - 🤍 Video Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you've ever uninstalled bloatware apps using an ADB shell command, and you wanted to install that application again, then follow along in this video as I'll show you how to bring back those pre-installed apps which were removed using ADB. Android smartphones come with a lot of pre-installed applications right out of the box. Some of these apps are really useful and ones that we use every single day. But other times we get apps or games which we don't want and never plan on using. One of the first things many people do when they set up a new phone is they go in and uninstall all of the bloatware they do not want on their phone. Many of these apps can be uninstalled through traditional methods but there are some that are classified as "system apps" and those can't be uninstalled like regular applications and games. So I have many videos on my channel here that can help people who want to minimize the apps and services they have running on their smartphones or tablets. This process doesn't require root access but does mean that you need to have ADB & Fastboot tools installed so you can execute a couple of ADB commands. Now I've shown you how to uninstall those apps from the current user profile in previous videos, so I won't go over that today. Instead, I want to talk about what you can do if you uninstalled one of these apps or services by accident. Since we're using the command prompt to uninstall them, there are times when we can't just install them again from the Android OS. So in today's video I'll be showing you the command you can use that will reinstall those previously removed bloatware apps using the install-existing command. For us to complete this tutorial, you are going to need to have some things set up ahead of time. For instance, we need to have ADB & Fastboot tools installed so that we can execute that ADB Shell command. Not only that, but you need to have USB Debugging Mode enabled on your device too. And lastly, we are also going to need to know the package name of the app you want to reinstalled. I have videos on my channel that have covered these methods and I'll be linking to them in the video description below for anyone who needs help getting up to speed here. Once we have all of that set up, we can begin the process of getting our bloatware back. [example on screen] Now I do know that some people will accidentally uninstall system apps which are required in order to boot into the Android OS. In those cases, you likely won't be able to access Android like you normally would since you're likely dealing with issues like the constant force closing of apps, or even a bootloop. In those situations, a comment here on the channel reminded me that we can boot the phone into Safe Mode first, if needed. Booting into safe mode should eliminate any force closes and bootloop issues that were caused by disabling the wrong application. So, if for example, you disabled the Google Play Services app and can no longer boot into Android normally to issue these ADB Shell commands, then first try booting into Safe Mode and then following this tutorial here. Automate Repeated Stuff - Using ADB (adb push & pull)

We all hate repetitive tasks, those small annoying, time wasting tasks that drain you every time you have to do them, but you do HAVE to do them. Well in this video I show you that a computer could be scripted/programmed to do all those rubbish things and I even show you a personal example of my own repetitive process that I made a computer do instead using a shell script and a wonderful command line tool called ADB. ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Google Developer Page: 🤍 ADB lets your computer talk to your android device and you can essentially control your phone (parts of it anyway) through your terminal. So I created a script that uses the ADB PUSH & ADB PULL commands to automatically take my newest video that I have just recorded from my phone and place it on my computer, ready for editing (the script in question, called "vidpull" like video pull, is in the gist link below)... Code Gist - vidpull script: 🤍 This video scratches just the top surface of what ADB can do in regards to interacting with a connected android device, there is so much more. I implore you to have a read yourself and dig a little deeper into it if you are interested! Also hopefully this video shows you a little bit about my process when it comes to defeating and never repeating those monotonous tasks that are so easy for a computer to do, you just need the right script! Thanks for watching, please let me know if there is any other topics that you would like me to cover as I start to slowly add more content to this channel...
