Top 10 Game Engines on GitHub

Today we are looking at the top 10 game engines on GitHub by popularity. This obviously is going to limit the game engines available to open source projects and it's more a popularity contest than a rating of capability (although an engine can obviously be popular because its capable!). I made my game engine

Discord 🤍 Patreon 🤍 Engine 🤍 Tamkish Music 🤍 I made my own 2D game engine / framework / renderer using OpenGL with the help of and various sound and text rendering libraries. It ended up being a very simple project and I even made a game with it. Although I did not include that in this video. I am somewhat proud of the engine itself but mostly I am glad I undertook this project because of how much I've learned and how much that new knowledge informs me when working in higher level tools. Basically after working on this I'll have no trouble working with Unity or Godot even if the workflow isn't 100 the way I'd like it to be.

15 Graphically Extraordinary Unreal Engine 5 Demos That Will Make Your Jaw Drop

Unreal Engine 5 has finally been released, and whilst professional and amateur developers move beyond early builds of the 3D creation tool, to get to grips with its full version, we thought we’d take another look at the tech demos out there. As before, the unparalleled realism, immersive lighting, and photo-realistic texture effects have us spellbound. It’s hard not to get too swept away by some of these demos, as it remains to be seen how the intricate environments demonstrated here will be incorporated into video games that’ll run smoothly at high framerates.

Why I'm not switching to Unreal Engine... | Unity vs Unreal

Wishlist Farewell North on Steam 👉 🤍 👈 Join the Discord 👉 🤍 👈 It's a debate as old as time: Unity, or Unreal Engine? Plenty of channels have offered their opinions on this topic, but I want to share what I believe is a more pragmatic approach to selecting a game engine for your indie game. There is plenty of love about both engines, but just like Blender vs Maya, they're just tools - nothing more, nothing less - and this choice doesn't dictate the final quality of your game. Sometimes you just need to ignore all the buzz around the latest tech demos and feature announcements, and consider the progress you'll make by sticking with a single engine for the long term. How to Make a Game Engine!

DISCLAIMER 1: This is NOT perfect code or the perfect way to begin an engine! I say in the video that we're working with a crude, over-simplified construction and I hope you think critically and think of WHY it's not-so-good. I say a few things I don't like about it in the video, but take a look at the comments to get more ideas on where to go next. DISCLAIMER 2: I am using an old version of OpenGL. If you're interested in making games, it can be incredibly helpful and educational to learn how they work at an engine level... so why not make your own? :) All levels are encouraged to try it.
