In this video, I'm going to tell you why I’m switching from Unity to Unreal Engine. Unity made a lot of poor choices lately, especially with its install fee that made me, and a lot of game developers, question if they should stick with Unity or switch to a different engine. This video is not supposed to be a "should YOU switch to Unreal" type of video, it's just why I'M switching to Unreal. ►►MY STUFF►► Become a Member►🤍 Play My Games►🤍 Twitter►🤍 Merch► 🤍 I really hope you guys enjoy it Love you all #lixian #unrealengine #unity Chapters: 0:00 I'm switching to Unreal Engine 0:49 1 - It's Old 1:19 2 - So Many Features 2:26 3 - It's a GAME Engine 3:40 4 - BLUEPRINTS!! 4:02 5 - So Much FREE Stuff 4:51 6 - Epic Games 5:44 UE for 2D Games Kinda Sucks 6:13 Unreal HEAVY! 6:38 CPP 6:59 THE BIG TWIST 7:53 Godot 8:29 Thank You, Members!!
Godot is a popular open source engine for building 2D and 3D games. Bevy, the future powerhouse game engine that will power many games. Today I break down the core philosophy of this game engine, and outline why the engines core philosophies are so powerful, that will truly shine among the game industry's adopted game engine standards (Unity, Unreal, Godot, GameMaker etc...). The data driven entity component system, is one of the most ergonomic one in existence, simple but powerful. it enables blazingly fast parallelized game code that can be easily structured and scheduled with absolutely no multithreading knowledge. 3D, and 2D rendering capabilities are solid, but it do not have the drag and drop AAA graphics Unity and Unreal. Bevy does not currently have a graphical editor, to gain wide adoption this must be available, an editor is currently in the works so we'll hopefully see one within one or two years. Today I explain and share my thoughts on the RPG Maker series of game engines. Places I can be found on the internet: GameJolt: 🤍 Website: 🤍 Discord server: 🤍 Music: Let’s get together now! – OMORI Three bar logos – OMORI Finding Shapes in the Clouds – OMORI Boy oh boy – LISA the painful Peper Steak – OFF By your side – OMORI Tussle Among Trees – OMORI Useful things that can helps with coding in RPG maker: List of all of the event commands and their code equivalent: 🤍 MV/MZ code documentation: 🤍 Further clarifications: RPG Maker MV and MZ is coded in Javascript, but every version before that was coded with Ruby and used the Ruby Game Scripting System (RGSS). I didn’t mention that because you don’t really need to *learn* these languages to code with RPG Maker. As long as you’re familiar with any coding language, you’ll be fine. Also Javascript is mostly used for webpages, but the javascript you’ll use on a website and the Javascript you’ll use on RPG Maker are completely different things, so “learning” Javascript wouldn’t really do you any good. Why this video took so long to make (if you care): So I started this video by completely redrawing all of the animations of my can character in higher quality, I did this so that I would be able to make him big without losing quality, and also did something that allowed me to make it animated with a transparent background at the same time, which was very tedious to do with the method I used before. Then I also changed the way I recorded audio midway through, and you can hear at 2:47 the massive difference in echo. Then there is also the fact that this has so far been the hardest script to write by far. I knew what I wanted to say but structuring it was really complicated and many parts got rewritten or removed, and changes got made up until the very end. JJJreact

A fair question... why should I use the Godot Game Engine instead of Unreal Engine or Unity? There are plenty of reasons to use each game engine (and plenty of reasons not to!). In this videos, we look at about half a dozen ways that Godot is "better" than it's peers. Reasons why you might wish to choose it over it's much older and bigger competitors. If there is interest, I can do similar videos about Unreal Engine and Unity in the future, as well as videos on why you SHOULDN'T use a game engine. Hello and welcome to my first video on indie game development, I will be making more like these in the future so stick around if that sounds interesting! Melee 3D scratch game: 🤍 Before commenting: "What about roblox?": A lot of people mentionned Roblox as a way to learn how to make 3D games, and that's completely valid! I didn't think about mentioning roblox while making this video because I have absolutely 0 experience with it. Last time I've seriously used roblox was in 2012 at best. But I've been told by many people that Roblox is a great way to learn how to make 3D games, and that I shouldn't underestimate its power! So if you really want to make 3D games and you don't have a lot of experience, you might want to look into Roblox! "Actually Unity is easy to learn because I learned it easily": If you thought Unity was easy to learn, then great! That's actually really cool! But not everyone is as good at learning as you, and the tips in my video mostly applies to people who aren't as good to learn new things. If you think you have what it takes to learn unity with no prior experience, then by all means, go ahead. But proceed at your own risks. Other clarifications: Construct 3 is not actually free, but it does have a free trial Undertale was made in Game Maker 1, hence why I only mentioned Deltarune because its made in GMS2 Baba Is You was actually made in Multimedia Fusion 2, which is the predecessor to Clickteam Fusion 2.5, it’s the same thing but they just changed the name between version 2 and 2.5 The RPG Maker engine program itself isn’t open source, but the code that your game runs on is.

I began by rendering 2D shapes onto the screen and realized how much work it is to calculate all eh vertices and indices hand. I then moved onto 3D shapes which was even harder. I created materials and textures which I would apply onto the objects. Then I moved onto implementing shaders such as transparency, fog, water, displacement, sin waves and more. I also took a quick break to add a skybox. As a final feature I added terrain generation based on a height and noise map. This was really difficult and it took a while to get it working but wow is it beautiful. Finally I added some camera controls, optimizations and the engine was finished. #gamedev #zyger #gameengine
