2023 has some of the most exciting new aero bikes on the market. We've pulled together 8 of the best aero bikes for 2023. After the change to the UCI's stipulation surrounding the 3:1 rule saying that tubes can't be more than 3x deeper than their width, we've started to see some incredibly creative designs. Trek, Bianchi and Scott have all taken advantage of the new rules and have gone deeper in their tubing than ever before. Sure, innovation costs, and these bikes are by no means cheap, however, if money were no object, which would you go for? All 8 of these aero bikes by themselves are great and represent the best aero bikes that are available today, so which would you choose? 00:00 - Intro 00:51 - Trek Madone 02:10 - Giant Propel 03:33 - Cervelo S5 04:38 - Scott Foil 06:13 - Bianchi Oltre RC 07:35 - Tarmac SL7 & Dogma F 08:22 - Colnago V4Rs 09:45 - Outro Subscribe to Cycling Weekly here: 🤍 More at: Cycling Weekly: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Email: cycling🤍futurenet.com #cycling #bikes #bicycles

Is this Ribble Ultra SLR the fastest bike ever? Ribble certainly think so! With hours of testing in a Silverstone wind tunnel, the bike packs loads of aero features designed to make you faster when riding - but unlike many of the skinniest, slippery bikes on the market, this bike is designed for real life riding. The bars and down tube are specifically tailored to reduce drag on the rider and bottles, leading to some huge gains in aero performance. Although road bikes were formerly all essentially the same, steel-framed vehicles, there is now a wide variety of designs and features available, whichever your preference is available. The trend toward feature sharing among different types of bicycles adds further complication to the matter. Well, welcome back to CYCLING NEWS LIVE. As a result, although the top-tier lightweight road bikes used to feature round tubing and shallow wheels, today's models more often than not have aero road bike-like tube profiles. Similarly, technological advancements have allowed aero bikes to become light enough for professionals to ride with confidence, even in uphill races, due to the benefits they provide, especially on downhills. So let's dive into the video. The endurance bike subgenre is another that has become increasingly generic. Although they may seem to be designed only with rider comfort in mind, the top endurance road bikes feature several aerodynamic enhancements. Furthermore, the best road bikes currently available have greater tire clearance over their forerunners, often coming close to that of the best gravel bikes. This aids convenience, and even the most strenuous events, such as Paris-Roubaix, have been won by cyclists riding aero machines. Although prices have gone up generally, there is a greater variety of bikes available than ever before if you are in the market for an entry-level road bike. Best budget road bikes often include disc brakes, with hydraulic braking at higher specs; again, they have bigger tires and can be set up tubeless. If all of that has left you feeling overwhelmed, don't worry; we have a dedicated piece on how to choose a road bike. In the meantime, watch the video to find the best picks of the best road bikes in a variety of price ranges and specializations. Si was out in Girona for the launch of the brand new Cannondale SystemSix aerodynamic road bike. NEW Limited Edition Yellow T-Shirt: 🤍 Subscribe to GCN: 🤍 Register your interest in the GCN Club: 🤍 In association with Cannondale. Lightweight bikes are quicker up climbs, right? Well, not always! In fact on average, an aero bike will be faster up anything less than a 6% gradient and even steeper for stronger riders. The new Cannondale is said to be the fastest racing bike to date and there are some strong stats to back this up. Will we get to the point where the whole pro peloton is only using aero bikes? In Olympic cycling the smallest of tweaks to the bike and the rider's position can make the difference between glory and failure. Discover how marginal gains have helped Great Britain's track cyclists repeatedly top the medal table. Film supported by 🤍DXCTechnology Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: 🤍 Sponsored by DXC Technology. Few sports test the limits of professional athletes like cycling but it's not just human endurance on the track that delivers the winning formula. It's human ingenuity off it. In elite sport, the difference between success and failure is often the finest of margins. This is base camp for one of the most successful teams in global sport - Great Britain's track cyclists have topped the medals tables at the past three Olympic Games. And it's a team that keeps churning out winners. In a sport where races are decided by as little as one thousandth of a second, Emily and her teammates are obsessed with one thing - marginal gains. And one of the best places to find those tiny margins is on the bike. The teams key man for this is an aerodynamics expert and ex-Formula one motor racing engineer. Cambridge University professor of engineering, Tony Purnell, designed the world-renowned T5GB bike with manufacturer Cervélo. By dramatically reducing air resistance it helped the British team enjoy its most successful Olympics ever. All-important milliseconds were shaved off performance times by making the tiniest of design changes - even down to the chain. It's not just the bike where aerodynamic perfection is relentlessly pursued - it's also the person on it. The precise position of the rider can make all the difference. In 1996 Olympic gold medalist Chris Boardman broke the one-hour world record. By pioneering his legendary Superman position. Today this legacy lives on at the state-of-the-art Boardman Performance Center in Evesham England. Today Jamie is helping professional cyclist Dan Bigham decipher his optimum body posture for an upcoming Team Pursuit race in the wind tunnel. Dan is battling winds of over 60 kilometres per hour to simulate the drag conditions he'll face on the track. His performance and ultimately success could depend on a series of almost imperceptible tweaks to his position on the bike. By moving his hand slightly forward and adjusting the gap between them by just millimeters Dan speeds up by nearly half a second per kilometer. Come race day, subtle changes like this could add up to a big advantage for Dan's team. Cycling's reputation has been damaged by doping but its pursuit of legitimate marginal gains still sets the pace for many other disciplines. Britain's world-beating cyclists face ever more intense competition from rivals who are quickly learning how to innovate. The pursuit of marginal gains is about to get even more marginal In elite sport the difference between winning and losing often hangs on the smallest of margins. As coaches, teams and athletes press ever harder in pursuit of victory, this series reveals the latest innovative approaches they hope will keep them ahead. From data to design, science to psychology, discover what it takes to find the winning edge. By far the most important marginal gain you can make is improving your aerodynamics. In fact some of the speed gains made from a few quick changes are so significant that they shouldn't even be classified as "marginal gains", they're just gains. The wait is finally over! Giant has launched the latest version of its dedicated aero road bike, the Propel. As you’ve probably guessed, the 2023 Giant Propel is claimed to be lighter, stiffer, more compliant and more aerodynamically efficient than its predecessor, the 2018 Giant Propel. Giant also says its new OverDrive Aero cable routing system makes the new Propel easier to adjust, while still effectively hiding any cables from the wind. We have already got our hands on a top-spec model and can confirm it weighs less than 7 kilograms for a size medium / large – that’s got to be one of the lightest disc-brake aero road bikes we’ve ever seen! We bet you know a lighter disc-brake aero road bike, so if you do, let us know in the comments! When it comes to road cycling, choosing the right bike can make a big difference in your performance and overall experience. While there are many different types of road bikes available, three of the most common are endurance road bikes, lightweight road bikes, and aero road bikes. Each type of bike is designed with a specific purpose in mind, and understanding the differences between them can help you make an informed decision when choosing your next bike. In this video, I used the Canyon bikes, Edurace, Ultimate, and Aeroad. Http://reginobike.com Follow Me ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 🚴🏼 STRAVA | 🤍 📸 INSTAGRAM | 🤍 🤨 FACEBOOK | 🤍

First spotted at the Abu Dhabi Tour, the Cannondale SystemSix Aero Road Bike has just been released. Join us as Simon takes a look at this striking new aerodynamic build. Subscribe: 🤍 The GCN Shop: 🤍 In association with Cannondale. This is the SystemSix, a name that Cannondale fans will remember from the mid-noughties, but make no mistake, this is all new. The mission they set themselves was to create the world’s fastest race bike, and admirably they avoided the easy route of just rushing an aero looking frame out to market. Instead, they bolstered their design and engineering team, eventually running to 12 people based across two continents, and worked from the ground up. Have they hit their target? Yes, they say they have, and they say they have the data to back it up, data showing that this bike is 6w faster than the next fastest bike at 50kph. As well as testing loads bike in the wind tunnel San Diego tunnel, their leading aerodynamicist, Nathan Berry, has also created a super exciting metric which simultaneously analyses and weighs up aero data and condense it into one handy figure. Yes, no more looking at graphs of yaw angles and trying to work out which is faster overall. Yaw weighted drag, more on that later. Firstly though, why is this bike faster? Well, the first point to note is that as with most recent aero bikes, this is very much a complete package, as much about the frame and fork as the new range of components on there, called KNOT, as in the wind speed, including new wheels too. Which I’m also particularly excited about, because who doesn’t get excited about wheels? Let’s start with the frame though. It is disc brake specific, there is no rim brake option, which they say has allowed them to make the bike more aero. There are of course some typical hallmarks of an aerodynamic frame. Dropped seat stays, super wide down tube to make water bottles more aero, and even this little addition under the junction of the top and seat tubes. Then there is this little aerodynamic device called a chine. This term comes from aeronautics, and it refers to this sharp edge here behind the fork crown. Its job, in this case, is to prevent the forks air flow from mixing with the wake of the headtube and interrupting clean air over the fork crown. If you enjoyed this video, make sure to give it a thumbs up and share it with your friends. 👍 If you'd like to contribute captions and video info in your language, here's the link - 🤍 Watch more on GCN Tech... The good news is that modern aero bikes have extremely low weights and provide a ride quality that is suitable for both long days in the saddle and sprint finishes. How much quicker would Aero be if we talked? Do aero bikes have the ability to ascend? Make sure you're subscribed to CYCLING NEWS LIVE so you don't miss the video in which we answer all of your questions. so let's get started right away without further ado. The year 2023 is right around the corner, so let's take a look at the best aero bikes now available. #S-Works #Venge In exchange for reduced drag numbers, early aero machines had to deal with increasing gramme quantities. Certainly not in this Venge. The frame weighs only 960g, but Specialized claims it's the most aerodynamic Venge to date. The huge 58cm aero carbon wheels are only 64mm deep, and the entire bike weighs just 7.56kg. Indeed, that is remarkable. The S-Works specification is the same. CeramicSpeed bearings facilitate smooth rotation of the CLX64 rims. These wheels feature a distinctive 26mm width and spread closer to 28mm when shod with the soft S-Works Cotton Turbo tyres. The wheels themselves have a broad, 21mm internal size. The drivetrain is the top of the line wireless system from SRAM, the Red AXS, which delivers flawless performance. Use the corresponding app to fine-tune AXS to your specific needs. One of the best saddles available today, the short-design Power, rests on the Venge-specific carbon seatpost. More specifically, it's the flyweight carbon S-Works variant, which offers all the comfort of the Power design while shedding unnecessary weight. This bike may be the epitome of "value for money" at its price point of £9,750. #cannondale system six Hi-MOD Dura-Ace Di2 The SystemSix comes in at the lowest pricing point in the test group with a price tag of €10,499; nonetheless, the term "cheap" does not do justice to this price point. Still, it's a good deal considering what you receive. A Power2Max NG Eco Power Meter is built into the frame, and the lightweight in-house HollowGram SiSL2 cranks are part of a Shimano DURA-ACE Di2 R9170 disc groupset. Double-sided power measuring and temperature adjustment from tried and true technology handcrafted in Germany. It connects with any GPS receiver or smartphone with ANT+ or Bluetooth technology. Cannondale's aero design calls for very narrow 23 mm Vittoria Rubino Speed tyres to be pre-mounted on their tubeless-ready 64 mm deep and 32 mm wide HollowGram KN0T64 wheels. The speed release mechanism is a great feature of these wheels because it allows you to take off a wheel without having to take the axle entirely out of the bike. When you've had some experience under your belt, you'll be able to swap tyres as swiftly as the pros. #aero #aerobike #woutvanaert #mathieuvanderpoel #cycling #tourdefrance #sworks #venge #cannondale #systemsix #merida #reacto #cervelo #cervelos5 #s5 #canyon #aeroad #trek #madone #scott #foil #look #795 #blade #bmc #timemachine #orbea #orca 📺 Watch the entire video for more information! _ About Cycling News Live 🎥 Videos about Cycling, News, Stories, Crashes, Victories and many more 🎨 Written, voiced and produced by Cycling News Live 🔔 Subscribe now for more Cycling, News, Stories, Crashes, Victories and many more videos. Is this the future of aero road bike design? Ribble has announced today the Ultra, which aims to be “the most aerodynamically advanced frameset in the world”. It’s a new aero road bike with an aggressively aero-optimised frameset and a novel integrated handlebar design like nothing we’ve seen before! Ribble says the “wake generating” bulges on the tops of the bar, manipulate the airflow over the rider to reduce aerodynamic drag compared to a standard aero handlebar, and Ribble claims the gains are significant. BikeRadar's Technical Writer, Simon Bromley met up with Andy Smallwood, CEO of Ribble Cycles to learn more about the design process of the Ultra. But what do you think of this radical new bike?
