The beauty of 5G that he discovered was that 5G utilizes multiple input and output antennas to avoid physical objects like buildings and trees coming in the way of communication. ✅5G consists of 2 main components, the Radio Access Network and the Core Network. The Radio Access Network includes Small Cells, Macro Cells, towers, and home systems connecting users and devices to the Core Network. Macro Cells use multiple input and output antennas that enable one to send and receive large volumes of data simultaneously, and Small Cells complement these Macro Cells. Meanwhile, the Core Network of 5G manages all the internet and data connections. ✅5G provides several applications and opportunities across different sectors. 5G deployment is preventing companies from going out of business. Millimeter waves, massive MIMO, full duplex, beamforming, and small cells are just a few of the technologies that could enable ultrafast 5G networks. Read more: 🤍 Today’s mobile users want faster data speeds and more reliable service. The next generation of wireless networks—5G—promises to deliver that, and much more. With 5G, users should be able to download a high-definition film in under a second (a task that could take 10 minutes on 4G LTE). And wireless engineers say these networks will boost the development of other new technologies, too, such as autonomous vehicles, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things. If all goes well, telecommunications companies hope to debut the first commercial 5G networks in the early 2020s. Right now, though, 5G is still in the planning stages, and companies and industry groups are working together to figure out exactly what it will be. But they all agree on one matter: As the number of mobile users and their demand for data rises, 5G must handle far more traffic at much higher speeds than the base stations that make up today’s cellular networks. 1G enabled us to communicate with mobile phones by transmitting analog voices. Digital audio was introduced with 2G. In the transmission of sound, radio transmissions changed from analog to digital. Mobile data was available with 3G. In other words, it allowed us to use our phones to browse the internet, read emails, and share pictures. The age of mobile broadband started with 4G. Multimedia and internet service prices have dropped, security has improved, and cloud systems have entered our lives. Of course, this was not enough for the world of technology. That is why they began developing 5G. 5G promises much faster data transfer, higher connection density, and reduced latency than previous generations. It generates a type of energy known as electromagnetic radiation, which creates an area called an electromagnetic field. It operates at higher frequencies than earlier wireless networks and offers faster and more efficient operations. Thanks to its high frequency and speed, it will be possible to drive an automobile remotely or perform remote surgeries. Seems scary? Are you curious whether or not 5G is dangerous? Let's find out! This video discusses initial acquisition procedures starting with cell search. By acquiring the primary and secondary synchronization signals (PSS and SSS), you can see the timing and the knowledge of the physical cell identity. The video then discusses broadcast channel (BCH) decoding, how the UE determines the synchronization signal block index with help of the associated demodulation reference signals (DMRS), and the role of the index in initial beamforming acquisition. The master information block, which is carried by the BCH, contains information about the system information block type 1 (SIB1), the next piece of information the UE looks for. The video then illustrates the random access procedure between the UE and the gNodeB, which enables UEs to get onto the network after receiving the SIB1. Key technologies behind 5G 9:10 5G Deployment What is 5G? 5G is the fifth generation of mobile network technology which provides unique features over the previous generations. 3 Key features (technical goals) of 5G: 1) Enhanced Mobile Broadband (High-Speed Internet) 2) Massive Machine to Machine type Communication 3) Ultra-Reliable and Low latency Communication These three features will enable new applications and service areas like 1) Internet of Things (IoT) 2) Smart Home/ Smart Cities / Smart Agriculture 3) AR/VR based services 4) Cloud-based Gaming services 5) Autonomous vehicles (Self Driving Cars with very high reliability) 6) Smart Industries 5G frequency bands: 5G technology supports two frequency bands FR1 : 410 MHz to 7125 MHz (sub 6GHz) FR2: 24.25 GHz to 52.6 GHz ( mm-wave Band) * mm-wave frequencies start from 30 GHz, but as 5G frequencies also cover beyond 30 GHz frequencies, it is commonly called as mm-wave band. Key Technologies behind 5G 1) Massive MIMO The 5G radios will support an array of antennas, which will increase the reliability, high throughput to end-user, and high spectral efficiency. 2) Network Slicing: Network Function Virtualization (NFV) enables the network Slicing, where there will be multiple logical networks on top of the physical shared infrastructure. Different types of services like IoT, low latency communication, high-speed internet can be served on these different logical networks. Standalone and Non-Standalone 5G Currently, there are two possible deployment options for 5G. 1) Non-Standalone 5G: In this deployment, 5G New Radios (NR) will be used to serve High-Speed Data and Voice to users but for control and signaling 4G LTE architecture will be used. With non-standalone 5G will enable the fast deployment of 5G as existing LTE infrastructure will be used for 5G deployment. 2) Standalone 5G: In standalone 5G, NR as well the core architecture is 5G. Standalone 5G will enable the true 5G experience for consumers. Learn about demodulation reference signals, or DMRS, in 5G New Radio. This video discusses their use in joint precoding and channel estimation. You will also learn about the different settings available for DMRS, including time and frequency density and position within a slot. This includes single-symbol vs. double-symbol, configuration type 1 and 2, mapping type A and B, and additional positions. You will learn how those settings support both single user and MU-MIMO. Finally, this video demonstrates most of those settings with an interactive application written with 5G Toolbox™. View the full playlist here: 🤍 Learn about downlink data transmission in 5G New Radio (NR). This video looks at the downlink shared channel chain, which includes LDPC coding, the physical downlink shared channel chain, layer mapping, how resource elements are allocated for PDSCH transmission, and the different types of PDSCH mapping. A special PDSCH mapping type is used for mini-slots or partially allocated slots, a feature that allows for reduced latency in 5G NR transmission. The video also walks through MIMO precoding, which, although not specified on the downlink, is a critical component of the downlink chain. The video includes an example demonstration that walks through PDSCH resource allocation options and mapping in 5G ToolboxTM. The video concludes with a quick word on transport block sizes.
