#ZuluCompany #UK Government #UKArmedForces #45Commando #RoyalMarines #RM Condor Royal Marines are ready to respond immediately if there’s ever a repeat of the Novichok attack on British soil after honing their chemical warfare skills. Zulu Company from 45 Commando, based at Arbroath, will now be the first men on the ground should the marines be called on to deal with a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) incident at home or abroad. Due to the heightened threat following last year’s incident in Salisbury, the commandos refreshed their skills at the UK’s specialist training centre preparing troops for such forms of chemical warfare. 45 Commando Royal Marines (pronounced "four-five commando") is a battalion sized unit of the British Royal Marines and subordinate unit within 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines, the principal Commando formation, under the Operational Command of Commander in Chief Fleet. Andy served both in the ranks and as an officer from 1976 to 1996 in the Royal Marines. He passed out of training as the top recruit (King’s Badgeman, 98 Troop) and as the best Young Officer (Royal Marines Sword of Honour Young Officer Batch May 80) and was awarded a General Officer Commanding’s Commendation for his field work in Northern Ireland (40 Commando Royal Marines) At the height of the ground fighting in the 1982 Falklands islands conflict, he was a rifle troop commander in charge of 32 men, and was tasked with operating independently from his unit, 45 Commando Royal Marines, in no man’s land. During this phase, whilst conducting a fighting patrol to destroy some of the enemy’s fire support systems, he ambushed what he thought was an enemy force killing four men. It transpired that it was a friendly patrol from his own unit. This single event, coupled with five tours in Northern Ireland, changed his perception of himself and gradually life in general, and was the beginning of a long slide towards ultimate despair, and eventually contemplation of suicide. From 1982 until 1996 he managed to continue functioning in various command capacities within the Royal Marines, but at the same time was aware of a growing split between the rational external face and the lurking internal horror that was slowly engulfing his entire persona. In 1989 the term Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was unknown to Andy and by 1996 he finally accepted that he had to leave the Corps and country he loved in order to deal with this overwhelming problem. He bought an old classic yacht and with his new wife, Cheralie, sailed off into the North Atlantic to re-discover himself. In the late summer of 1997 they discovered the beautiful sub-tropical Balearic island of Formentera and dropped anchor. It was here that Andy began the process of self-healing. On the 6th of September 2012, by invitation of the Commanding Officer, who was an old friend, Andy gave a two hour presentation to 45 Commando Royal Marines on his war and its effects. Not only did he manage this with no emotional fall-out, but that night he found himself listening to a number of serving officers who wanted to talk about their experiences and resultant emotional problems. Andy realised that this was the end of his 30-year battle with PTSD; and the beginning of a new career in mentoring those who are suffering today. Thus The Mountain Way was born. ………………………………………………………………………………….. 👊🏼 Friends, please support the channel by joining my ONE LIFE TEAM on Patreon or YouTube Memberships From only £1.99 a month you can access Perks ranging from complimentary VIP tickets to my annual talk, free e-copies of my books, insider updates, your name in the podcast credits, free life coaching via Zoom, private Q&As and chats, personally signed memoirs plus action photograph and top-sponsor privileges including a yearly dinner. ➱ 🤍 ➱ 🤍 ☀️ Support the channel with a one-off donation towards editing and equipment ➱ Buy me a cup of coffee for £3 here: 🤍 ➱ 🤍 ➱ 🤍 ❤️ Sign up for my NON-SPAM newsletter and receive two FREE books ➱ 🤍 🏪 Visit my affiliate shop on Amazon ➱ Supergreens powder ➱ Nutribullet ➱ My books, guest’s books and recommendations ➱ Products I recommend ➱ My podcasting equipment ➱ HERE: 🤍 👊🏼 Chris’s memoirs, thrillers & self-help books 📒 Eating Smoke: One Man's Descent into Cry*l M*th Psychosis in Hong Kong's Triad Heartland ➱ Paperback: 🤍 ➱ Kindle: 🤍 📕 Forty Nights ➱ Paperback: 🤍 ➱ Kindle: 🤍 📙 State of Mind: How I Ran 36 Ultramarathons Back to Back with No Training ➱ Paperback: 🤍 ➱ Kindle: 🤍 📸 Join me on social media ➱ BNTUBE 🤍 ➱ INSTAGRAM 🤍 ➱ BITCHUTE 🤍 ➱ FACEBOOK 🤍 ➱ LINKEDIN 🤍 ➱ TWITTER 🤍 ➱ PARLER 🤍 ➱ TELEGRAM 🤍 ➱ TIKTOK 🤍 🤡 REDDIT ➱ 🤍 ➱ 🤍 ➱ 🤍 🎧 AUDIO PODCASTS ➱ Spotify: 🤍 ➱ iTunes: 🤍 *Please note: some of the Amazon links above are ‘affiliate’ ones. Royal Marines in Afghanistan have been working hard to reassure locals, after a relatively peaceful village was rocked by gunfire. Sayedabad was once a Taliban stonghold but was taken by British forces last year, following months of fierce fighting. In the second of our reports on 45 Commando, Tristan Nichols joined X-Ray company, aiming to calm some nerves.
Royal Marines fighting in the Nad-e Ali South district of Afghanistan say they've been surprised by the developments in the area. Traditionally summer in Afghanistan has been regarded as the fighting season but 45 Commando say insurgent activity has dramatically fallen, and Afghan forces have helped maintain security. In the village of Kushal Kalay there have been a reduced number of attacks from insurgents, 4 in the past 4 months. Part of the success has been put down to the efforts of previous tours. 1st Battalion, The Royal Irish Regiment made huge progress over the winter, driving out insurgents from the area. And the current battlegroup are working hard to maintain that success. However, for these Royal Marines there is no room for complacency. Efforts at stabilising the area have had success but 45 Commando say they will work hard to ensure that the villages remain secure.
