While the Frontier, historically a long-lasting mid-size pickup, has continually been a top seller, the recent redesigns of the GMC Canyon and its counterpart, the Chevy Colorado, make them formidable competitors, challenging the Frontier's dominance in the segment. Im good on the canyon im not paying 60k for a 4cy engine i dont care how advanced they claim it is i know the Nissan will out last the gmc period!!
I do like the gmc canyon
wow, the headlight controls on the gmc suck.... thats the dumbest thing i've seen in a vehicle.
GM is junk ive owned most brands of cars at this point dont think i was ever buy
another from big 3 Japanese from here on out funny thing is most of those are more American than big 3 are for Mexico or Canada
Chrome died dude!
I just picked up a 2022 Colorado Z71. My first choice was a Frontier Pro4X but they were way more expensive here in Vegas.
Drove my 22 Frontier SV 4x4 from Appleton Wisconsin to Vegas and back and it was a great trip. My truck handled everything beautifully. Even on the interstates in Colorado and Utah it worked great climbing mountains with ease and holding 80+ mph with little effort. It was comfortable and even got pretty good MPGs.
A better choice for comparison would have been a non denial model.
GM all the way. Nissan insurance is outrageous
Just picked up the 24’ Frontier Pro X, since GMs release of the Canyon in Feb 23’ I haven’t been able to find any trucks at a dealership for a test driver. Easy decision on the Nissan, no dealer add-ones to deal with , great running and driving truck, drives like a truck not a Cadillac. Out the door at $ 38 K , the GMC easily would have been at bare minimum $ 15K more. Not worth the extra if you ask me. It’s much more comfortable than a truck I couldn’t test drive.
Canyon for sure
The Tacoma has been the best selling mid size truck for many years. The Nissan Frontier is a great truck that will out last the Canyon by far.
The Colorado and Canyon have a decades long abysmal reliability record. Consumer Reports has them at a 1/5 reliability rating with only 5% of those owners saying they would buy the truck again. This generation will be even worse with the volumes of gadgets baked in and the turbo-only engines. I bought a new 2022 Frontier for its proven reliability, naturally aspirated V6, and physical controls.
I owned a Korean designed / built Chevrolet Spark and it was fantastic in every way. Bulletproof reliability, exceptional fit / finish, and fun to drive. When it was time for a truck, I wanted to stay with GM. But 10 minutes of research on the Internet sent me running away. The US designed and built Canyon is a reliability train wreck. (cited from multiple websites)
I’m not wow’d by the “tech” in the GMC - most of it is useless on a daily basis and will become very problematic as time goes by. My only gripe with the Frontier is it needs rear seat A/C vents (I live in TX) and one touch up/down for all four windows. Love the Frontier…it will far outlast the Canyon.
Nissan
Have a 2023 Frontier and so glad I went with that. Have actually hit over 26 mpg and only 6k on it. I think I will have this truck fora long time.
The Canyon is at least 2 sec faster 0 to 60 then the Frontier. The Frontier gets completely dusted by this new Canyon in acceleration and driving dynamics. This dude is a complete doofus
Both are SCRAP!
No one ever discusses the Frontier GDI engine and potential for carbon build on the intake valves and engine failure as a result.
